HOW IT WORKS
Through a partnership with MyGreenMichigan and other food waste haulers, we provide 32 and 64 gallon organics rated, curbside carts for you to place your food scraps. We offer single stream collection — ALL food scraps, plant waste, and certified compostable products are accepted.
Once food waste is collected at your business (frequency depends on your waste volume), it is disposed at our facility in Wixom, where it is combined with yard waste, wood waste, and other organic waste.
All the material is processed in windrows and finally screened into nutrient rich compost and topsoil that are used by landscapers, gardeners, residents, and architects to establish and maintain superior plant growth.

THE PROBLEM
According to EPA, 60-80% of garbage produced by restaurants is food waste, and over 36 million tons of food waste is thrown away every year only in the USA.
This astronomical quantity went straight into landfills and incinerators, creating harmful greenhouse gases and ground water pollutants. In landfills organic waste generates methane (a greenhouse gas over 25 times more potent than CO2).
But wasted food is not only about the food scraps. It wastes water, gasoline, energy, labor, pesticides, land, and fertilizers used to make the food. When we throw food in the trash, we are throwing away much more than just food.
THE SOLUTION
Food waste can be recycled and turned into compost to feed the soil and grow healthy plants. When food scraps are recycled, we reduce methane emissions, sequester carbon from the atmosphere and make the soils strong again.
By turning food scraps into soil, we do not have to mine the Earth and air for nutrients to fertilize plants. This helps grow resilient plants that will bring healthy food to our tables.
