FAMILY OWNED AND OPERATED

About us

For over 30 years, Spurt has been a commercial compost manufacturer dedicated to producing STA Certified Compost, Topsoil and soil amendments for landscapers, farmers, organic growers, other contractors, and homeowners.

Spurt is a local, family-owned and operated business with over 30 years of experience manufacturing certified compost, planting soils and custom soil blends designed to enhance and maintain plant and soil conditions.

Made with high-quality native ingredients, they’re perfect for sustainable landscaping, green buildings, lawns, farming, flower and vegetable gardens, DOT roadside projects and more—giving our customers everything they need for superior plant performance.

We aim to keep it local and sustainable, with our facilities in the Metro-Detroit area: Wixom and Rochester Hills. We are also proud to be one of the only four companies in Michigan producing STA Certified Compost, and the only one in Wayne, Macomb and Oakland counties. This is the leading national certification available for compost, requiring regular testing for more than 20 different parameters.

Although our composting operations directly address climate change and regeneration, which is all great for the environment, our primary focus of social responsibility is the community. We engage in several donation projects to address local resilience and food access in underserved neighborhoods, support soil health education and give back to those in need.

Our staff can answer any questions about our STA Certified Compost and soil amendments to help determine the best product for your application or use. Do not hesitate to contact us, even if you require our services outside of normal operating hours.
